Frontier League Baseball - @ Sauget

*The Schaumburg Boomers defeated Gateway Grizzlies, 10-9 in 11-innings on Wednesday at GCS Ballpark in a game you heard right here on the Big-Z (WBGZ radio-Alton).  It was our Wednesday Grizzlies Game of the Week on the Big-Z.

Schaumburg held a 9-2 lead when the Grizzlies erupted for 7 runs (on 7 hits) in the 8th inning to tie the game.  It stayed tied at 9 until the 11th inning when Schaumburg scored a run to edge out Gateway, 10-9.  In Frontier League baseball, the international tie-breaker rule takes effect in the 11th innings of games - placing a runner on second base to start each half inning.

Garrett Mattlage had 2 home runs and 5-RBI's for the Grizzlies including a grand slam homer in the big 7-run 8th inning.  Seth Spivey went 5-for-5 for the Boomers with a home run and 4-RBI's.

>>The Grizzlies host the Boomers again tonight (Thursday) at GCS Ballpark.  Game time in Sauget - 7:05 pm.  Schaumburg (21-8) is going for the 3-game series sweep over Gateway (7-23).
